Making a Halloween Film

Two young creators spent a rainy afternoon turning clay and cardboard into Halloween magic — all with the Zu3D Animation Kit. From shaping their characters to capturing each tiny movement, this simple family project became a mini-movie you can watch and share.

Action! The finished clay ghosts star in their spooky short film.

From a Lump of Clay to Spooky Stars

The children began by shaping simple ghost characters — soft, friendly designs that are perfect for small hands. Adding eyes, mouths and purple “ears” gave each ghost a personality and made the animation extra fun.

Setting the stage — the haunted castle takes shape as the children adjust their characters.

Capturing each frame with the Zu3D webcam — precision meets play.

Build a Mini Movie World

With cardboard, paint and a little imagination, they created a haunted castle complete with a crooked tree and dark archways. Zu3D’s onion skinning and frame-by-frame tools helped them nudge characters a few millimetres at a time to create smooth, lifelike movement.

Starting from scratch — building the ghosts from clay.

Add Sound, Music & Movie Polish

Once the animation was complete, the children added sound effects, music, titles, and end credits. With Zu3D’s built-in tools (including rig removal and green screen), their short film felt like a real production — and they were thrilled to share it with family.

The story taking shape — the ghosts meet in front of the castle.

The grand finale — a cinematic view of their handmade set.
“It’s amazing watching them concentrate so hard and then burst into laughter when the ghost actually moves!”
